Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are actually open and will close on fifteen December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to fulfill the subsequent criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a home using a combined gross house income that does not exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined house revenue will not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and want not post any proof of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent residents from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to deliver the proper Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are studying or plan to research in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.
